Halston
Roy Halston Frowick, born in Des Moines, Iowa, founded his clothing company in the 1970s. He was named as "the premier fashion designer of all America", his designs worn by Anjelica Huston, Lauren Bacall, Liza Minelli, and Elizabeth Taylor. He also designed the pillbox had that Jacqueline Kennedy wore to her husband's Presidential inauguration. His perfume, Halston, was one of the fastest sellers. Unfortunately, his increased drug use and failure to meet deadlines had him fired from the company and was unable to design and sell clothes under his own name. He died in 1990 from lung cancer. He was still known as the "first international fashion superstar".
