  Balenciaga
Balenciaga's first couture house opened in 1918 in San Sebastian, Spain. Due
to a great admiration by the locals, a second house opened in Madrid and a third
in Barcelona. In 1937 he opened another couture house in Paris. Called the
"Couturier of Couturier's," Balenciaga embodied pure Parisian elegance. In 1946
the first fragrance by Balenciaga, "Le Dix" was launched. Balenciaga passed in
1972 and left the business to his nephews. In 2001 Gucci Group in Partnership
with Nicholas Ghesquiere as creative director began to run the House of
Balenciaga while still staying to true to the influence and tradition the house
had in the beginning. Balenciaga continues today with men's and women's
clothing, shoes, and accessories that are sold all over the world.
