  Almay
Established in 1931 founders Alfred and Fanny May began their ventures in creating a more gentle makeup in a time when cosmetics were more heavy and harsh. Alfred, a professional chemist began experimenting with his wife, Fanny May's, cosmetics to try and figure out which ingredients in her makeup were causing irritants to her skin. This led to creating the first hypoallergenic cosmetics brand and the first brand to conduct safety testing for allergies and irritations. Combining their names to create Almay it has since stayed true to their roots in providing products throughout their entire brand that are gentler on the skin.
